One shortcoming is the lack of counter space that can be used to arrange food dishes as a buffet while entertaining dinner guests. This stovetop cover provides additional countertop space and conceals unattractive stove plates. The cover comprises a flat stainless steel panel provided with side and end walls to ensure the panel stands clear over the stove elements and their respective control knobs. The two end walls are each formed with a recess to act as a handle, while rubber foot pieces spaced along the underlying rim of the walls prevent the cover from sliding. Once the cover is placed over the stovetop, it provides additional counter space to arrange food dishes. This is especially useful when the food containers are extremely hot and may damage or burn the kitchen counter top if placed directly on its surface. The cover may alternatively be injection moulded from heat resistant plastic compounds in a range of shapes to accommodate different types of stovetops and colours, which compliment the interior decor of the kitchen.
