Description: A tower crane is typically used to hoist heavy materials such as steel beams and machinery to elevated platforms on the construction site. Before a steel beam is set down onto the platform, construction workers use ropes or cable to guide it into the correct position.

This is dangerous since the worker must to be standing almost directly beneath the steel beam in order to manipulate it. If the steel beam over-swings its intended position it could easily pull the worker holding onto the guide rope off balance with fatal results.

This dangerous problem can be overcome by a pivoting hook system that is designed to give the crane operator or spotter on the building means to control the swing of the material being lifted. The rotor hook comprises a cast iron steel ball formed with a recess in its centre to house a geared motor that is powered by a rechargeable battery unit and used to turn a rotating grapple hook, which protrudes from the bottom end of the ball.

The geared motor and direction of rotation are controlled by a handheld wireless remote that either the crane operator or preferably the building spotter uses to slowly swing the iron beam into place. Heavy equipment can be swung into position by rotating the crane hook mechanically instead of manual labour and ropes.
